Welcome to Texas Outdoor Organizers (T.O.O.), Texas’ largest fully independent hunting and fishing trip planner.
Purpose of T.O.O.
T.O.O. was founded in February 2000 with the business philosophy of committing to the sportsman/woman that wishes to fish or hunt in Texas. T.O.O. has only worked for the sportsman/woman, we have never been a “booking agent” for any specific hunting ranch, guide, or captain in Texas. T.O.O. works for the Sportsman, always has, always will!
Our only focus is making sure the sportsman/woman that agree to have T.O.O. work for them receive the best hunting or fishing package based on their trip’s criteria.
As 2014 moves into the summer, T.O.O. is in it’s 14th year in the Texas Hunting/Fishing landscape. That is what we do; work within hunting and fishing related venues, 24/7, all around Texas.
T.O.O. has expanded it’s hunting/fishing presence into other hunting/fishing related avenues, but the core of our business always will be making sure those sportsmen and women looking to hunt or fish in Texas that allow T.O.O. to work for them find the best fishing & hunting package for their time and money.
Let Texas Outdoor Organizers work for you in finding, planning, and making the hunting or fishing trip happen with as little hassle as possible on your end.

Summer 2014 Texas Hunting/Fishing Outlook
At the beginning of summer 2014, Texas has been blessed as much of the state has received solid rainfall this spring. Not all of Texas received beneficial rain but much of Texas has received enough solid rain to develop fairly good deep soil moisture .
Right now many areas of Texas have fair to substantial levels of ground moisture and that is getting the deer, turkey, and other game off to a solid start due to spring green up and resulting food growth for the animals. We hope Texas will receive more rain to continue this growth pattern, but things are looking pretty good for 2014 as Texas continues to recover from the drought of a few years ago..
As beneficial the rains have been for the last few months, most Texas lakes have not seen enough heavy rainfall with the good run-off required to fill the lakes. The result as of the first days of June 2014 is that many lakes in Texas are still below normal pool level. That will affect the fishing in Texas lakes, but that has happened before and we will receive substantial run-off at some point and refill the lakes. Whether of not it is in 2014 or later remains to be seen.
For the coastal regions for 2014, Texas has a bad dose of Brown Tide in the Upper Laguna Madre/Baffin Bay area which doesn’t really affect the numbers of game fish such as our Speckled Trout, Red Drum, and other species. The Brown Tide affected the fishermen more than the game fish as the affects of Brown Tide makes it more difficult to fish artificial lures when it is present. Other than the Upper Laguna Madre and Baffin Bay areas, Texas Bays are in great shape for 2014.
Off shore fishing has been solid, with limited problems other than the usual strong winds affecting the smaller offshore boats. The long range tuna charters on the “party boats” have had great luck through late January catching Yellowfin Tuna and other species. The past winter has allowed for limited numbers of these tuna trips to get out and fish with the result being some very good fishing for offshore fishermen. See the upper right picture this page for a respresentative type T.O.O. organized tuna trip.
As 2014 approaches the second half of the year, T.O.O. is encouraged by the rainfall and mild weather so far for that affects the hunting and fishing across Texas. With a little luck the rains and weather will continue to bless all of Texas and the sportsman can continue with a fantastic year of hunting and fishing in Texas in 2014.

Fall Deer Hunting Season in Deep South Texas
There is a place in deep South Texas that is 14 miles off the highway and is surrounded by the largest ranches in South Texas. It has oak and mesquite trees, herds of deer, turkey, javelina, hogs, varmints and Nilgai, and is located in Kenedy county. This area has one of the largest concentrations of wild game in Texas. Numerous Boone & Crockett whitetail bucks have been taken in Kenedy county in past years. The ranch is also located by a game preserve.
Free Range Aoudad Sheep Hunting in Texas
Native to the Barbary Coast and Atlas mountains of Northern Africa, aoudad sheep, or what some people refer to as Barbary sheep, were originally introduced into Texas in the late 1950’s in the Chinati and Glass mountains in the Western part of the state. Subsequent releases took place in the same general vicinity as well as Palo Duro canyon in the panhandle region. Biologists who theorized this species would do well in the Texas environment were correct, and today there are over 15,000 free ranging aoudads spreading across several different eco-areas of Texas. well as goats. They are suited for hot, arid climates and can survive on little to no natural water resources as they obtain the majority of moisture for a heavy diet of succulent cactus species found in the areas we hunt. Their wary behavior, combined with incredible eyesight, as well as an amazing ability for adaptation gives the aoudad recognition they deserve as the most challenging species we hunt anywhere.
With over 290,000 acres of private ranches leased exclusively for facilitation of our sheep hunts, we have access to the most elite free range aoudad sheep habitat in Texas to offer our hunting clients. These 6 free-range ranches are located in Jeff Davis, Presidio and Brewster counties of West Texas situated in the Chinati and Davis mountain ranges. Hunts are based from well-appointed lodges with all modern amenities located on site in extremely scenic settings. Elevations varying from 4000-7500′ make these hunts a true sheep hunters delight and possibly one of the best sheep hunting values found on the hunting market today. We have had countless clients who have taken the grand slam of North American and have commented that our aoudad sheep hunts rivals any of these bighorn species. Free range aoudad sheep hunting is within grasp of most client budgets, yet giving the gratification of most other regional or international sheep hunts offered in today’s hunting environment. This is not a hunt for the meek and mild, and clients are well served to be in good physical shape to increase their chances of getting on a mature ram. Desert Safaris guides are some of the best in the industry and widely recognized for effort and production the past 20 years on our sheep hunts. Hunters must stay focused and patient as we have to comb tens of thousands of acres typically in extreme conditions trying to locate a target ram and getting into position to finish the deal with typical shot distances being in the 200-350 yd range. Most rams we harvest are in the 29″ to 32″ range ( 10-12 years old) with multiple monsters taken annually stretching the tape in excess of 34″.\
Aoudad or “Barbary ” sheep being a non-indigenous species to Texas and thus no regulated season so we can facilitate these hunts year round with the fall and winter months typically being the best timing. Licenses are guaranteed for non-residents at a minimal cost of $48.00 and there is not a draw or application process for this species. Hunts are conducted on an exclusive basis meaning whether one individual or multiple persons in a party books you are only ones in camp giving you the most personalized attention and service for a more upscale hunting experience and highest success rate in the industry encroaching 100%. Clients will fly into El Paso or Midland, Texas where they will rent a vehicle and make a 2-4 hr drive depending on hunt area.

As a young man, I had two boyhood dreams. One was to grow up and make a living in the great outdoors. The other? To run a hunting ranch and surround myself with the people I enjoy; other hunters and their families.
Today, both those dreams have been realized as my family and I host the world?s greatest group of folks with (what I believe) is the best value in a moderately priced hunting experience today.
With two different ranches (one in the Texas hill country and one in south Texas) and a wide variety of species to hunt, hunters are able to choose between trophy animals they may have never seen before in beautiful, natural environments.
Guided by professionals who know where the game is and how best to hunt it, most hunters will leave knowing a few more ?tricks? to success than they did when they arrived and some great Texas trophies to take home with them.
I hope you?ll give us a try this season. Our staff and I will work hard to make it the best hunting experience you?ll ever have.

Trophy Whitetail Deer Hunting Destination
In 1836 when Texas won its independence from Mexico, there was still a border dispute. Texas claimed that it was comprised of lands extending all the way to the Rio Grande, while Mexico contended its borders ended at the Nueces River. This dispute came to a head when in 1845 Texas was annexed by the United States, an action that Mexico deemed an act of war. Thus began the Mexican-American war, which secured among other things, without a doubt, the area south of the Nueces River for Texas.
The Whitetail deer is one of the most desired big game animals in North America. Texas has made itself a reputation as one of the premier destinations for hunters seeking quality whitetails at a reasonable cost and comfort level. With over 20 years of management and record keeping we have created one of the best purely native populations of whitetail deer in the state right in the middle of the so called “Golden Triangle.” This is an area comprised of Webb, Dimmit, and La Salle counties split almost in two by the Nueces River. Las Raices Ranch is located in northern Webb County just south of the Dimmit County line and on it still resides an old stage house built in 1836 during the border dispute.
For the first 10 years of the stage’s history, passengers couldn’t be sure if they were riding in Texas or Mexico. Since the early 1990’s the Barrett family has owned Las Raices Ranch (named after Las Raices Creek which means “The Roots” in Spanish) and used it as their hunting getaway. Due to the success of the management program, the ranch now yields more trophy deer than the family members can possibly harvest themselves. With 4000+ High Fenced protein fed acres, the Las Raices is able to provide excellent quality fair chase hunts with very high success rates. It’s our belief that we truly have the best deer in Texas. Come hunt with us!
Hunting the Ranch
The Kinsel family enjoys a long history of cattle ranching and game management. The Kinsel Cattle Company has successfully conducted a game management plan which has produced some of the best Whitetail’s in the area. The deer are fed free-choice protein year round. Additionally the deer are fed corn from October through January.
The preferred hunt will be from elevated blinds and enclosed tri-pods, overlooking automatic feeders, or “Safari-Style Walk and Stalk”, as well as rattling during the rut.
The Experience of a Lifetime
Prior to our first hunt we will spend about 45 minutes going over the ranch rules and looking at management and mature deer photographs, so that we will all understand what we are looking for in the pasture. We require a release of liability form be signed prior to the hunt.
Hunters are required to have and wear snake boots, leggings, or wrap-arounds, as there is always a possibility of Rattlesnakes. Hunts may be arranged around your schedule, however, a typical hunt begins at the ranch on Friday at 2:00 p.m. where we will give you a quick overview of the ranch, and sight in your guns if necessary. Then it’s off to start an exciting weekend of South Texas Deer Hunting.
The following morning we will begin our hunt around 6 a.m. The morning hunt will end by 11 a.m. We will start at 3 p.m. for the afternoon hunt.
The time period between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. is your time to spend in Cotulla, maybe taking a nap, eating a lunch, catching some of the game on T.V. or shopping at the world famous Ben’s Western Wear for a new hat or boots. If you prefer to stay at the ranch, you are welcome to do so.
The hunts will end at 10:00 a.m. on the third day, which encompasses four hunt outings, two morning and two evening hunts. In order to keep you on schedule for departing at noon, the rest of the morning will be spent processing your game.
HANDLING OF GAME
Field dressing will be done by the guides. We have a large walk-in cooler to keep your game in during your stay. Hunters will be responsible for quartering any game that is to be transported home. If you wish, the guides will quarter your game (hams, shoulders & backstraps) for you for a fee $25.00 per animal. (Hunters must provide ice chests).
It is a strong suggestion, to avoid any delays or miscommunication, that the hunter make arrangements for any and all taxidermy work prior to the hunt. Hunters are responsible for caping-out their trophy. The guides can cape-out and transport to San Antonio for a fee of $25.00 per animal. All arrangements for processing, taxidermy work, shipping, and payment, will be between the taxidermist and the hunter
